What is Bodywork?
Muscular, structural, and emotional issues are addressed with a gentle touch technique that is a blend of many therapeutic modalities.
There is no bone manipulation or forceful thrusts, such as those used in chiropractic work or osteopathy. Therapeutic sessions last for 60-90 minutes. The client rests fully clothed on a massage table while a gentle touch is used to bring the body into balance. Combining techniques based on individual issues, results in less physical discomfort and an improved sense of well-being.
Bodywork Influences
For stress reduction and to promote healing, non-touch techniques like Esoteric Healing, Reiki, and Therapeutic Touch are often used.
Gentle Touch Techniques include:
- Upledger Cranio-Sacral Therapy – a light touch technique to release restrictions in the muscle fascia (muscle covering) and to enable the spinal fluid to flow smoothly throughout the system.
- Ortho-Bionomy – a technique that uses gentle compression and subtle movement to release muscle or joint restrictions.
- Total Body Balancing – uses rhythmic movement to release tension in all systems of the body and achieve structural balance.
- Somato Emotional Release – uses Cranio-Sacral principles to release emotions held in areas of discomfort.
- Upledger Lymph Drainage – helps the body release toxins using a gentle sweeping motion.
